As the temperature increases, the ethyl chloride vaporizes into an expansion chamber, compressing a spiral spring. When the temperature drops, the gas collapses, allowing the spring to expand and wind the mainspring. This process ensures that the mainspring is continuously wound.
The Atmos clock operates on minimal energy by ensuring that every component is as friction-free as possible. At the heart of its timekeeping mechanism is a torsion pend, which is designed to consume less energy than traditional pendulums.
